Biography
Melissa Bell is a senior correspondent for CNN, based in Paris, where she covers European and international news. Her recent reporting has focused on the war in Ukraine, both on the ground and from Moscow, including an exclusive investigation into the Wagner Group and unprecedented access to the front lines during the Ukrainian counteroffensive. She has also covered the exodus of men fleeing Russian mobilization at the Georgian border, as well as Haiti, where she interviewed Prime Minister Ariel Henry after the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. Since joining CNN in 2016, she has covered the French elections, the 2024 Paris Olympics, Brexit, the Notre Dame fire, and the climate crisis. She began her career at the BBC, then France24, and holds a degree in political science from the University of Warwick.
