Biography
Philippe Aghion, born in Paris in 1956, is a leading French economist. Professor of the Chair of “Economics of Institutions, Innovation, and Growth” at the Collège de France and visiting professor at the London School of Economics, he is renowned for his theory of endogenous growth and “creative destruction,” which he formalized with Peter Howitt. In 2025, he was awarded the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel for “explaining innovation-driven economic growth.”
