Low Altitude Economics: reinventing the sky, services, and value
Low Altitude Economics proposes looking at the economy at human scale—where value is actually created: the last meter, the last click, the last kilometer. In a context dominated by macro narratives (geopolitics, global chains, platform AI), this approach puts proximity, location, and the operational reality of territories back at the center: purchasing behaviors guided by immediacy, hyper-personalized services, the transformation of streets and urban infrastructure, and rising demands for decarbonization and local resilience. The challenge is strategic: rethinking growth, competitiveness, and sustainability based on everyday uses, concrete constraints (logistics, regulation, energy, labor), and field data.
The session also explores how to “reinvent the sky” in the service of this local economy. Drones and low-altitude autonomous systems are becoming key levers for security, industrial maintenance, crisis management, surveillance of public spaces, and logistics optimization, thanks to embedded AI and sensors. But their deployment raises major governance issues: social acceptability, privacy, air safety, legal framework, and value sharing between public actors, businesses, and citizens. The goal is to open a debate on the conditions for a low-altitude economy that is efficient, sustainable, and trustworthy.
