Biography
Laurence Devillers is a professor of Artificial Intelligence at Sorbonne University and a researcher at the CNRS in the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Digital Sciences (LISN). She is head of the HUMAAINE chair: Human-Machine Affective Interaction & Ethics. Her research focuses mainly on social and human-machine interaction, emotion detection, oral dialogue, affective robotics, and ethics. She is president of the Blaise Pascal Foundation for Scientific Mediation in Mathematics and Computer Science.
In 2023, she co-wrote a play with Serge Abiteboul and Gilles Dowek entitled Qui a hacké Garoutzia ? (Who hacked Garoutzia?) about chatbots and memory.
She has written more than 200 scientific publications (Google h-index: 46) and several essays for the general public: Des robots et des hommes (Plon 2017), Les robots émotionnels (L'observatoire 2020) and IA, Ange ou Démon ? (CERF 2025).
